Reflection and Anticipation
Hey there! So the process I went through to confirm my internship for LINK was a bit messy. But to briefly sum it up, it began with me going on a search for a place to possibly intern. Initially I had found a place, but the possibility of an internship at that business fell through. However, I came across Four Corners Film Company and the rest was history! So like I said, my internship was at Four Corners Film Office, and the type of work that goes on there can vary.
During the duration of my internship, my mentor was Stephani Burditt who I met once I walked into Four Corners Film Office. But before my internship had begun I had the ideas and hopes that Stephani would not only give me an insight of what it would look like to work in this setting with other individuals who work in this area, but to also get me out on the field! Which ultimately left me with some specific goals in mind, personally and career wise. A big goal of mine was to primarily see what it was like to work in the film field in profession setting, and this experience ultimately helped me move towards this goal by me taking part in an area I really understand.
For LINK, comes a project that would ultimately support the business and also contribute to a community. Based off of my interests of film making, my project idea was to make a promotional video for Four Corners Film Office. This supported the work of the business by not only showing video work, but also promoting it within the community in Durango and neighboring communities! What I hoped to learn from this project was to see what it was like to make something that would promote Four Corners but also lean the nitty gritty parts of the process for promoting someone or something.
Next, I'd like to briefly add on to some of the obstacles that appeared when attaining this internship. Which ultimately had none at all except for one small minor incident that occurred revolving around a follow up email I had sent to Four Corners about scheduling a time for me to come in and discuss the internship. I had though I hadn't gotten a response, but after looking at the email, I had seen a reply which stated that anytime between nine and five would work. I handled this situation in an interesting way, which began with me slightly getting after myself. However, I went in and discussed the internship and like I said, the rest is history! Oh and one thing I learned was to double check my email because there may be something of dire importance I'll need to read. All in all I couldn't wait for this internship to begin!
Before my internship had begun, I was completely filled with butterflies! Not only was I going to be working at a place with well rounded people for three weeks, but I was going to be working in a setting revolving around film!!! I actually spent a good chunk of free time imagining what it was going to be like at Four Corners for three weeks. And honestly, the excitement was killing me! I could not wait, and I was just trying to keep myself occupied with my own personal film projects until my internship would begin!
