Design Your Own Art PRoject
For the Design Your Own Art Project, we were able to design a project in any medium we chose. Anything. I chose to compile and edit all the footage for the series I have been writing and filming called Unbroken, a dystopian series. This is more or less of a sneak peek of the story and the premiere of Season One is coming!

Video Project
This project took off really quickly for me and I went about it by making a documentary on the progress of the film I've been working on and a lot of the footage that was filmed and used in the film and any footage taken behind the scenes. Then I interviewed some of the cast members who talked about their roles briefly without giving too much away , but I partially winged it and it ultimately worked out really well.
Project Reflection
Does material culture influence artistic decisions?
I feel like material culture can influence artistic decisions by inspiring an artist to take a specific take on a concept or an item that sparks something in them to create something that comes from the original source material.
How can an artist create works of art through combining, expanding, and sequencing images/ideas/?
An artist can create works of art by combining, expanding, and sequencing images or ideas by going with the flow. Being bound to guidelines can restrict an artist but also bring out their best. But an artist being free and doing whatever comes to them is bound create a work of art through combining, expanding, and sequencing images or ideas/
How is art used in everyday life?
Art is used in everyday life in a variety of ways. It varies from the individuals who utilize whatever form of art they prefer and however they implement them. May it be out of boredom, for an assignment, or out of passion.

Design A logo Project
Project Desciption/Reflection
This project consisted of designing a logo we would sketch out and digitalize in Adobe Illustrator. I however began by diving into illustrator before I did my logo sketches.
When doing this project, it was mostly me playing around in Adobe Illustrator and learning how to access brushes, how to use brushes and how to use general tools. This project more or less had me learn more about Illustrator in general.
What I'm going to take with me after doing this project is the brush and pen strokes I did within Illustrator and I'm going to mimic them with real pens since I believe that the pen marks/brush strokes I made in illustrator can be done by hand. Also I'll have some basic know hows in Illustrator, and scanning images/sketches in and tweaking them in Illustrator.
The personal connection I have to the logo is that it is Godzilla against Mechagodzilla, just in Japanese, and that for as long as I can remember, I've always loved Godzilla, and writing it in Japanese was very fun to do. It just seemed the way to go when I was trying to find a logo idea to do for this project.
The process that went into making the Godzilla x Mechagodzilla logo happen was mostly just me winging it and messing around in illustrator. The two you see are my favorites out of like eight other versions that I scrapped.

Self portait-ish? Project
Project refletionProject Objective: Create a self-portrait or develop a series of self portraits inspired by your personal and/or intellectual growth this year.
When is art criticism vital, and when is it beside the point? Art criticism seems some what futile in most situations to be truthful Since the piece of art that the artist created was made by them, they do not always want any feedback from others. It's the artist's art and if they want feedback or criticism, then they will ask for it. What problem solving skills are employed in making visual reflections of self? It really depends on the person who's making a visual reflection of them self. One does not simply "employ problem solving skills" while reflecting on them self. It sounds too utopian to think like that. It's basically if there's something I don't like, it could be something I drew or something I did, I'll look on it and do my best to not do that again. To better myself. |
Photoshop Project
Project reflection
Project Objectives: Envision and Critique to reflect. Recognize, demonstrate, and debate philosophic arguments about the nature of art and beauty (aesthetics).
For this project, I had the option instead of turning a teacher into a creature and instead scan in some of my art and toy around with photoshop. I first scanned in the page and went to work, which began with filling in the areas that would be black with the trusty paint bucket tool, but just so I didn't make the entire sheet black, I drew lines around the images with the page and then began filling spaces. Once that was done, I decided to play with different colors and different sized paint brushes with the brush tool. Above are before and after images of the page I'd been working on.
I think the hardest part in this project time, and I actually made it over this obstacle by tweaking the theme of my product which was the shades of grey to finally adding color.
As an artist, I've learned that I really love drawing in the manga art style over "realism" or any other art styles among those lines. Implementing my art with photoshop at first was something I DID NOT want to do, but surely I warmed up to it, however doing things by hand and inking it has been somewhat of a style for me.
When it comes to underlying unconsciously guiding art, well I am honestly not sure how to go about going into that.

shoRt independent Graphic comics
Below are a few short comics I have done on my own time and for this project itself. The Unbroken comics are original story plots for a film/comic I've been working on independently. The Star Wars : Thirty Years Later comic is a very brief comic inspired by Star Wars The Force Awakens, coming out this December.

As an artist and what it means to be one? Just be you. Art is something I've seen as a way to express myself. May it be through making short comics, simple drawings or dancing. They're all some artistic way of expressing who I am. It's a reflection of who you, are, and also a reflection of who I am.
In the 21st Centiry however, art has changed. Throuout time art has changed, and an artist needs to adapt, may it be for business or just self expression. To be an artist in the 21st Century means to be an artist who is willing to branch out from what's popular and make something new, or take something and make it a reflection of you. |
